Halfway, Oregon

June 20th, 2012: My bike which keeps insisting on taking breaks when we go up the huge hills out here.

Skip outside Halfway OR. We never figured out what it was halfway between but it was similar to VT towns – kind of a liberal outpost. And who but a Vermonter would know that Middlebury is so-called because it is halfway between New Haven and Salisbury???

We stopped by a small local artists’ cooperative. The folks inside were not only artists but musicians. When I asked them to sing, they burst into “Come, come whoever you are, Wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving. Ours is no caravan of despair.  Come yet again, come!” I was momentarily transported back home to CVUUS!

that’s one of our favorite songs at BVUUF too!.
I am really enjoying this–still waiting to hear a commitment to our getting together when you get near Boulder. I’ll be on Wee Two 8/15-22 for Mom’s hundredth, but otherwise I’ll be here.
