Hot Sulpher Springs, Colorado

July 15th, 2012: On mile 82 (one mile from our destination), Skip ran over aroofing nail, puncturing, his tire, tube, and brand new rim! Fortunately Carol stopped and gave him a ride to a motel and also gave him the number of the local bike shop.

V.J., the bike shop owner, made a house call to the motel and miraculously got us on our way again in no time!

  1. love your pictures of the countryside–but I think I like your pictures (and stories) of people even better!

Are there days when you wish you were on a train?

I’m surprised that Skip just didn’t look in a near-by dumpster and find a new tire as he has done before. It’s great to read about all of the wonderful people you have come in contact with.
